External Description:

Legal Manager – Sourceright

Luton (3 days) & London (2 days)

£55,000 - £60,000 plus car

Randstad is the world’s second largest HR services company. In the UK, our activities cover all forms of recruitment and HR services, from “high-street style” temp and perm staffing to outsourced client talent acquisition teams.

We are looking for a qualified lawyer to join our legal team and to have account management responsibility for the UK arm of one of Randstad’s business lines, Randstad Sourceright (“RSR”). This business line provides for managed services (MSP) and outsourced recruitment services (RPO) to large, sometimes multi-national, organisations. In addition the role will be responsible for supporting our IT function, as well as for some key projects.

You will be one of 4 managers reporting to the Randstad UK Legal Director. As well as being a key part of the UK team, you will form part of the network of international lawyers who work for and with RSR within the EMEA region.

The work environment is fast-paced, challenging and rewarding. You will be working closely with experts in HR services and you will be expected to gain a deep domain knowledge to enable you to provide the most effective legal support. Day-to-day, you will:

  • work closely with the bid team on tenders to ensure RSR’s commercial and legal interests are protected;
  • play a key part on cross-functional implementation teams for client contracts, working closely with implementation, sales and operations and leading client contract negotiations;
  • guide account teams on responding to client initiatives;
  • support supply chain management in ensuring a robust sourcing strategy
  • work with our IT function to ensure software is contracted on sensible terms

The role is based 3 days in the UK shared service centre in Luton and 2 days a week in the RSR London office, near Liverpool Street, plus occasional visits to the sourcing centre in Birmingham.  The role has responsibility for a paralegal with a possibility of a further direct report.

We think this role would suit lawyers with around 6 years PQE but we are not tied to that number. Irrespective of your level of qualification, you will need to demonstrate your experience of dealing with complex contractual arrangements and an ability to grasp technical legal points as some of the work will relate to the intricacies of employment taxes and employment status. You must be comfortable providing more than just legal advice and, notwithstanding the degree of technicality, you must be able to convey information and advice in a straightforward manner.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating large outsourcing agreements with clients, (which may involve their recruitment requirements in other countries) and handling supply chain and supplementary agreements;
  • Advising on variations to client agreements and termination responsibilities at the expiry of an agreement;
  • Providing support and guidance on temp worker matters including compliance matters such as AWR, data protection, timesheet fraud and worker status;
  • Reviewing IT agreements and other supplier arrangements;
  • Assisting in the roll out of regulatory change and company policies and relevant training;
  • Identifying ways in which you can add value to the services provided by RSR e.g. by providing client briefing notes or presenting on legal updates;
  • Working closely with the IT and marketing teams to support on contract negotiations for IT services;
  • Supporting central functions where specific legal knowledge or support is required as part of Group projects;
  • Handling a full range of exciting ad hoc enquiries from the mundane to the bizarre - we are constantly surprised by the questions that come out of our businesses!

We encourage and welcome applications from all sections of society and are more than happy to discuss reasonable adjustments and/or additional arrangements as required to support your application
